- Formally known as " Albizia saman " and previously only used for aesthetic purposes, monkeypod was pioneered as a tonewood by Jeff Yong and has recently been applied by other luthiers such as Bamburg guitars.
- They are usually small trees or shrubs with a short lifespan, though the famous " Sam醤 del Gu鑢e " near Maracay in Venezuela is a huge " Albizia saman " specimen several hundred years old.
- The various trees known as " algarrobo " in Latin America ( " Albizia saman " in Cuba and four species of " Prosopis " in Argentina and Paraguay ) belong to a different subfamily, Mimosoideae.
- Ever since he was a child, he has been collecting seeds of native trees such as Sandalwood, Albizia saman, Ficus religiosa, Aegle marmelos, Neolamarckia cadamba and many more in his mission to cover every barren land with trees.
